This program will provide an immersive cultural and artistic experience that reflects the social impact of music ensemble creation, practice and performance. The program will align with youth development principles wherein students will identify and relate musical ideas and works to societal, cultural and historic contexts of the African diaspora to deepen their understanding of cultural identity and heritage. This will be the unifying theme of the program for students in grades 2-5. Classes offered will include, but will not be limited to, piano and West African drumming ensembles.
Wrestling with Character
Brockton Youth Wrestling was created to develop the youth within our community and provide them with adequate tools to learn discipline, set goals, and to build character through the sport of wrestling. This program is open to students in grades 6 to 8 and will run on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6 to 8 p.m. The program will be held at the Downey School from April 6 to June 3.
